Warn drivers of lane closures before they reach them. A sign is helpful.
Guidance: 01 The CENTER LANE CLOSED AHEAD (W9-3) sign should be used in advance of that point where work occupies the center lane(s) and approaching motor vehicle traffic is directed to the right or left of the work zone in the center lane.
