Let the cute little penguins waddle their way

June 19, 2017

If you think penguins don’t need to cross a road just like we do, you’re wrong. New Zealand has built an underpass for little blue penguins which helps them skip road traffic—and curious tourists—while they waddle from the sea to their nests. Earlier, penguins had to travel through a busy road stamped with a penguin crossing sign.

You won’t find penguin crossings in America, since penguins are native to the Southern Hemisphere.

However, American zoos and aquariums with penguins can make good use of our Penguin Crossing Signs. In recent years, penguin exhibits have garnered popularity across the country, be it the 1.5-acre exhibit in Maryland Zoo or the $30-million facility in Detroit Zoo. Signs can alert visitors to penguins’ habitat and remind them to slow down in these areas.

Movies like Happy Feet, Penguins of Madagascar, and Mr. Popper’s Penguins have only deepened the love for these adorable little creatures. These signs make perfect gifts for kids. Official-looking road signs also work great as gifts for who love the snow.
